Washington Youth Tour
Each year, Shelby Energy sponsors 3 High School Juniors for the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. These students will visit Frankfort for a one-day tour of the Capitol, Governor's Mansion, and a variety of historical sites.
Later, selected participants will represent Shelby Energy, joining around 1400 students from across the country, in Washington, D.C. for a one week, all-expense paid tour of national monuments, government buildings, and museums. Applications are available in December of each year and open to all Juniors whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are served by Shelby Energy Cooperative.
Shelby Energy Cooperative's student representatives for the 2019 Washington, D.C. Youth Tour were Kailey Kays of Henry County High School, Kendall Bingham of Shelby County High School, and Hayley Snelling of Trimble County High School.
