We understand that many of our members are having difficulty making ends meet due to the economic impacts of COVID-19. Shelby Energy has temporarily suspended disconnections to give our members more time to gather bill payments. However, this suspension is not forgiveness of your bills and it is important that each member do their best to keep their accounts current. Just like you, Shelby Energy has an electric bill that we pay to our wholesale power provider for the electricity that our members use. As a cooperative, we are a not-for-profit business and operate on a slim margin to keep costs as low as possible for our members. For this reason, everyone must pay for the services they use and disconnections will resume in the future.

It is important that you contact us to make us aware of your situation and seek assistance before disconnections resume. We will work with you to create a reasonable payment plan that will fit your specific needs.

- Call us at 800-292-6585 to speak with a Customer Service Specialist about your repayment options to avoid disconnection in the future.
- Contact your local Community Action Agency These agencies have received federal funds designed to help members through bill assistance and weatherization programs. Programs may vary by county.
