On March 16, Kentucky’s Public Service Commission (PSC) ordered all regulated utilities to suspend disconnections for non-payment due to the COVID-19 crisis. Since then, Shelby Energy Cooperative has worked with members to find assistance and develop flexible payment plans. Effective October 20, 2020, the Public Service Commission (PSC) lifted the order to suspend disconnections of electric service for non-payment and regulated utilities across the state resumed disconnections.
We understand this has been a challenging year and many of our members have been faced with unforeseen financial hardships due to the COVID-19 crisis. For that reason, Shelby Energy has and will continue to allow additional time for our members to prepare for repayment of past-due balances. However, members are responsible for contacting Shelby Energy to make appropriate arrangements to avoid disconnection.
