Scholarships

Shelby Energy offers six (2 per district) $1,000 Scholarships to graduating seniors whose parent or legal guardian is served by Shelby Energy.
There are also two $1,000 Line Technician Scholarships available for seniors who plans to enroll in a Line Technician Training program and whose parent or legal guardian is served by Shelby Energy.

2020 Shelby Energy Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior planning to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college, university or vocational school.
  • The Applicant must have a parent or guardian that is a member in good standing with Shelby Energy Cooperative.
  • Recipients will be selected by a panel of judges not employed by Shelby Energy Cooperative and based on the following criteria: School Involvement (10%) Community and Personal Achievements (10%) Essay Response (25%) GPA & ACT/SAT scores (25%) Legitimate Financial Need (30%)
  • Scholarship must be used within one (1) year of receiving the award.
  • Excludes immediate family of employees or Directors of Shelby Energy Cooperative
  • This Scholarship is not renewable.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the school for tuition and books only.

2020 Line Technician Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior planning to enroll in an approved line technician training program as a full-time student.
  • The Applicant must have a parent or guardian that is a member in good standing with Shelby Energy Cooperative.
  • Recipients will be selected by a panel of judges not employed by Shelby Energy Cooperative and based on the following criteria: School Involvement, Community and Personal Achievements, Essay Response,GPA & ACT/SAT Scores, Legitimate Financial Need 
  • Scholarship must be used within one (1) year of receiving the award.
  • Excludes immediate family of employees or Directors of Shelby Energy Cooperative
  • This Scholarship is not renewable.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the school for tuition and books only.
